WANDERERS GENERAL MEETING
NOVEMBER 17, 2001
COUNTRY CHOICE RESTAURANT
ATTENDING: John Q. Lawrence, Gary Steinweg, Barry Borden, Dick "Grumpy" Usested, Mary
Messina, James T. Scoggins, P.A. Davis, Thomas "Doc" Cassidy, Rod & Rose Fleming, Ron Growel, Bill
Edwards, Quentin Bradley, Jim Hockett, and guests, Doug Huse & Roger Baggett.
Called to order by President Bill Edwards at 10:00 A.M.
MINUTES:
Doc mad a motion that the minutes be accepted as posted on the website; Rod seconded. Motion carried.
TREASURER'S REPORT:
A new Wanderer has been inducted by the name of Greg Huber, who also added to our treasury, leaving us with a current
balance of $720.08. The set-aside of $300.00 for our shirt obligation still stands. A question arose as to how
we should spend some of this money when it becomes available, but since there were no ideas put forward this time,
the matter was tabled.
OLD BUSINESS:
Ron Growel recapped the progress thus far on the Toy Run. There is still a need for the following items:
Safety vests
Radios
Passing out more flyers---especially at the places already contacted.
In an interview with Father Joe Carroll, it was pointed out that the age group 13 through 16 was often neglected,
so items should be included to cover that area. Also, there is a great need for baby necessities (i.e. diapers
etc.) He also outlined the procedure that is followed on the Toy Run collections. A family leader, most often
the mother, contacts the St. Vincent de Paul organization, or volunteers refer the family. That family head comes
to the warehouse and picks out the appropriate items, which are then tagged with the name of the designated child
and address. Those items are then delivered to the home, after having been wrapped and tagged by the volunteers.
All tee shirts and pins that have been paid for in advance will be available either at the South Shores (if that's
where you will be) or at the Roadhouse. Check at the Wanderers' Booth.
Rod Fleming reported on the club shirts. After much discussion, and several votes, the shirt will be as follows:
Dark gray, long-sleeved, Henley-buttoned styling, with a collar, (but no pocket), and embroidered with the club
logo. Price will be posted for those who want to order---providing that the supplier can fill the above order.
If not, we will go back to the drawing board.
NEW BUSINESS:
Rod & John Q. are going to bring samples of club pins that can be made up, and it was suggested that we purchase
a quantity, to be given with each membership card, and extras available for purchase at about $2.50 each. More
to follow on the website.
NEW RIDES:
BELL GARDENS Dec. 1
Ron Growel moved that we adjourn; several some ones seconded. Meeting adjourned at 10:50.
Respectfully submitted,
Rose Fleming
Secretary
