PATCHES: John Q. passed a sample of the small patches around the table, so we could evaluate the quality.
Upon overall approval, he then informed us that the patches would be here sometime within this week. Those who
want to, can pre-pay, and he will send them in the mail. Cost for the small patches is $5.00 each. Regarding
the large patches, it was suggested that requests be forwarded to the secretary Rose, who will keep track of the
numbers. When there is sufficient call for the large patches, we will then order them. There are three large
patches coming with this order, which will be distributed to new members first. Any left over, will be available
to the general membership. Please check with John Q. for further information.
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS: The recent poll concerning use and/or abuse of the LISTSERVE showed that the majority of
members want topics related to motorcycles and club events only. Ron Growel pointed out that, originally, the
LISTSERVE was made available to the Wanderers by the Laszco family (personal friends of Don Presten) at no charge,
in appreciation and gratitude for the fund-raiser we sponsored on behalf of Steve Laszco. It was understood then,
that traffic would be kept down. Due to the recent growth of the Wanderers, it is necessary to suggest another
venue for the chitchat, joking, “family” repartee, that has been showing up on the general list. It was requested
that before members reply to the list, they first ask themselves, “Is it necessary to post this to the entire membership?”
If not, then replies can and should be posted only to the individuals involved.
Greg Huber has set up a forum on Delphi for all those teasing remarks, jokes, and general information items, whether
or not it is motorcycle related. Members are urged to register and use this forum. There is no charge. (http://forums.delphiforums.com/SDWanderers/start/)
There will be written guidelines that will be distributed to the membership, covering the web site, LISTSERVE,
and overview of the Wanderers in general.
NEW RIDES:
Idyllwild by Mike C. Sept. 14
NOTE: The Moonlight Ride (Sept. 21) is a MEMBERS ONLY. Please do not invite guests.
SAFETY: (This is a new area for our meetings.)
Group Riding It is in the best interests of the group, to acknowledge and comply with requests made by the Ride
Captain. This could cover any number of things, including position in the pack, speed, spacing, etc. It is important
to understand that, even if it doesn’t make sense to you, it does to the Ride Captain. The safety of the group
is first and foremost, and the request is not personal.
Members are urged to contact the newly appointed librarian (Rose) to check out a copy of our safety video and manual.
We have a limited number of these available, but it is well worth requesting.
Someone moved to adjourn; several someones seconded. Meeting adjourned at 11:04 AM.
Respectfully submitted,
Rose Fleming
Secretary
