WANDERERS GENERAL MEETING
March 23, 2002
Location: Don & Bobbie Presten's Garage
WANDERERS GENERAL MEETING
March 23, 2002
ATTENDING: Ron “Taz” Growel; Rod & Rose Fleming; Gery & Virginia Marcelino; Barry Borden; Bill Edwards;
John Q. “Gadget” Lawrence; Greg & Seanna Huber; Don & Bobbie Presten; Stacy Richardson (a brand-new Wanderer---Welcome!);
and visitor Anthony “Toe-Knee” Devito.
First of all, “Thank you Don & Bobbie for allowing us to gather at your house today.”
Called to order by Bill Edwards at 10:15 AM.
Motion was made by Don to accept the minutes and the treasurer’s report as posted on the website; Rod seconded.
Motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS:
None.
NEW BUSINESS:
Since certain rides have become annual events, a motion was made by Don, and seconded by Rod, to add them to the
Ride Calendar permanently. The following is a list of those rides, along with the month in which they take place:
January New Year’s Ride & Don Presten’s Freeze-out Ride
March Joshua Tree (probably will be an over-nighter)
April Klub Kamp-out
June Blue Knights Ride & Ride For Kids
July Anti-Destination Ride
August Club Picnic (Ride & Eat)
September Full Moon Ride (the 21st, this year)
November Julian Apple Festival Ride & The Annual Toy Run
A second suggestion was having a swap-meet/garage sale so we can unload all those bike-related items that we no
longer use, have replaced, outgrown or otherwise are taking up space for new stuff. (Mull it over and let us know
what you think.)
TOY RUN, 2002:
Ron Growel is once again doing his duty as one of the coordinators for this event. He has asked for help in the
pre-event planning, and Don has volunteered to help him out. His report to us had a lot of information, the highlights
being as follows:
1. The Board of Directors is holding discussion as to who will be the beneficiary this year, but it is probably
going to be Father Joe’s kids once again.
2. Sponsors will be the same as last year, but there will be a criteria adopted for recognizing sponsorship.
3. A new location for the end of the ride needs to be found. Pauma Casino is interested, but suggestions are welcome
from all involved. Please route them through Ron. (The suggestions, not the riders.)
4. For the first time, the Directors are filing IRS forms to declare tax-exempt status. Contributions can therefore
be deductible.
5. Emcee will once again be our very own John Q.
March is traditionally the month nominations are made and accepted for club officers with
elections scheduled for April. With only ten members present at this meeting it was decided to accept nominations
via the Wanderers List-Serv. Bill Edwards will provide details in an E-mail to club members.
John Q., seconded by Don, made motion for adjournment. Meeting adjourned at 10:45, and buckets, sponges, hoses,
tools, cleaners and all types of methods were then employed in the task of cleaning off the grunge from our bikes.
Respectfully submitted,
Rose Fleming, Secretary
