WANDERERS GENERAL MEETING
San Diego Wanderers General Meeting
August 23, 2003
Country Kitchen Restaurant
ATTENDING: Rod & Rose Fleming; Greg & Seanna Huber and Gregory; John Q. Lawrence; Sean Brooks; Joe Durham;
Joe Baker; Diane Keneally (new member); Melinda & Steve Mitchell; Lucas & Laura Dabney; Michael Wheeley;
Gery Marcelino; Ron Growel; Kent Saxton; Bill Edwards; Gary Steinweg; Tom Warren; Renee Xenakis & Yvette Veln
(apologies for incorrect spelling), guests from Moto Angelz.
Rod Fleming called the meeting to order at 10:00 AM.
MINUTES: Greg moved that the minutes be accepted as posted; Joe Baker seconded, and the motion passed.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Gary Steinweg reported that we had a total of $333.64 in our treasury. An additional $90.00
was collected, which brings the total to $423.64.
Congratulations to Michael Wheeley and to Gery & Virginia Marcelino for having completed their 3000 club miles.
Certificates and gold pins were awarded.
Greg Huber won the Hawaiian mileage pool, and was awarded (surprise!) a can of macadamia nuts flown in from the
Land of Aloha.
OLD BUSINESS: Greg Huber reported that the campsites for the “Klub Kampout” were reserved. We will have a new
site this time around. He also asked members to scout out firewood. See the website for details and for a sign-up
sheet. We still have a need for volunteers to cook, clean up, and so on.
Steve & Melinda Mitchell are leading the ride to Las Vegas on September 12, and those who are planning to go
need to let them know right away.
NEW BUSINESS: none.
CLUB RIDES:
Bill's BBQ Chow Down Ride September 6
The Afternoon Delight ride has been moved to October 11.
(Please mark your calendars)
SAFETY: Kent Saxton presented an over-view of the ride protocols followed by the San Diego Wanderers. A rousing
game of “toss the ball” gave everyone an opportunity to participate. All members are encouraged to review the
sections on the website dealing with hand signals, spacing and general group riding safety guidelines which the
club has adopted. (Thanks go to Ron Growel for his thoughtful work in formulating these guidelines.)
The post-meeting ride will begin at 4:30 today, starting at South Shores and winding up at the tide pools in Cabrillo
Park. Unfortunately, this ride will not include a feast at Carole Helstrom’s as originally planned. Hurry up
and recover, Carole. We miss you (and your food too).
John Q. motioned for adjournment; Greg seconded. Meeting adjourned at 10:40 AM.
Respectfully submitted,
Rose Fleming
Secretary
