THIS AND THAT (part one): Greg is looking into tickets for “Stomp”.
RIDES:
Palm Springs See Web Site October 8-10
Biketober West See Web Site November 2-4
Midway Tour Leon Smeiska November 13
SAFETY FIRST: Greg outlined a few very important safety reminders for riding at night. Refrain from using high beams or extra lights, as it could blind the person in front of you. Do not fall victim to “target fixation” by staring into oncoming headlights or the tail lights of the bike in front of you. Observe the 4-second rule: allow at least a four-second space between you and the bike ahead. And last, but certainly not least, if you see a rabbit run across the road, look out for the coyote that’s probably chasing it!
Also mentioned, was the following scenario: when making a left turn from two lanes, utilize both lanes, and regroup once you get through the turn. Watch your leader to determine which lane you will be falling into, and “do-si-do” into it smoothly. Give each other enough space to re-form the line.
Tina motioned to adjourn; Rod seconded. The meeting adjourned at 5:22 (which must be some sort of a record!)
THIS AND THAT (part two): Rose unveiled the new San Diego Wanderers banner, that Rebecca and Scott generously donated to the club. Unfortunately, there is a spelling error. However, this problem was addressed, by Rose’s addition of a sign directly underneath it which reads, “U-Turn OK”. On one side, Scott duplicated the motorcycle found on our patch, and John Q. is working on coming up with a way to add our Wanderers patch to the other. Thank you, Scott and Rebecca for the banner!
(Note: While Rebecca has offered to repair the misspelled word, I think it makes the banner uniquely ours. After all, what is it that the Wanderers are famous for, if not for making mistakes and turning around in the middle of a ride?-----Rose)
Respectfully Submitted,
Rose Fleming
