John Q. reported on the up-coming Club Campout, scheduled for April 16,17,& 18. As of right now, no open fires are permitted. John Q. has talked with the Rangers and various higher-ups about using pressed fireplace logs in lieu of wood (no sparks), but no decision has been made as of this report. Even if we have to resort to using charcoal briquettes in the fire pit, the Campout will take place as planned. Volunteers are needed to plan and serve three meals: Friday night supper, Saturday morning breakfast, and Saturday night dinner. (You may get reimbursement from the treasury for your expenses.) please contact Rose at venture-rose@cox.net.

It is customary to break camp on Sunday morning and go to Barrett junction café for their brunch buffet. Campers usually begin to arrive early on Friday; some set up camp on Saturday morning, and other simply come out on Saturday, to eat and schmooze. There is usually an impromptu ride.

IF YOU PLAN ON COMING FOR ANY OF THE ABOVE-MENTIONED MEALS, PLEASE RSVP TO THE LIST.

SAFETY FIRST: Kent Saxton led a lively review of the “Ride Protocols” that the San Diego Wanderers employ on their rides. Some of them are, maintaining safe distances in staggered formation, and single file, and the hand signals used to indicate which is which; the hand signal which says, “Hey, buddy, your turn signal light is still on”; pointing out obstructions or potential hazards in or alongside the road; alerting riders of passing motorcyclists; signal used to tighten formation; signals for slowing down or speeding up the line; allowing space for vehicles to merge, and splitting large lines into two groups.

Members were reminded that a list of these, and other, “Road Rules”, including the customary hand signals(animated…cool!), can be found on the Web Site.
