Greg H. called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.
MINUTES: John Q moved that the minutes be accepted as posted to the web site;
John Del Santo seconded. Minutes were approved.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Carole presented the treasurer’s report in Tom’s absence.
Current balance is $841.32.
OLD BUSINESS: Steve outlined the schedule for Christmas in July “party” to
follow the meeting, and they took off to purchase a DVD player for the senior’s
home.
John Del Santo confirms the CPR/First aid class will take place at The First
Baptist Church on August 20th from 9:00-1:00PM. $40 checks should be made out to
ABCPR and given to John. Several participants from ABATE will fill up the class.
Greg discussed the membership list (In Sharie’s absence) saying it is time to
close the books on it.
Greg discussed spending money from the treasury to reduce the balance to where
it needs to be as a non-profit organization. T-shirts (Carole exploring this),
hats, $300-1,000 tire changer and balancer were mentioned. Club has one month to
make other suggestions to Greg. Decision as to how to spend funds will be made
at next month’s meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
Carole brought up vote from last month’s meeting to create a list of members
wishing to share basic info with other club members. Sign on sheet was passed to
get those present to indicate their wishes. Carole will contact members not
present at meeting. Lists will be distributed at next meeting. Other ways to
share this info will be discussed at August meeting as well.
John Del Santo shared information from Joy on the Joy Of Motorcycling School
(flyer attached to minutes. Joy has adapted the traffic school course agenda to
focus and include motorcycle related information. Class is open to all who have
received tickets and need the class. Gary suggested it be listed as a link on
our website.
Greg brought up the Xmas party. Whether or not to have it again, invite the
SoCal Cruisers? Discussion focused on our having our own party. Rose offered the
hall again. It will be scheduled on a Saturday, not to conflict with Long Beach
Bike Show.
Fall dates for campout picnic were slated for September 9-10-11. Club needs
someone to step up to coordinate this event.

That Dam Ride – July 30 – Paul Barban lead.
Boothill Memorial Run – July 31 –Leon Smeiska Lead.
Moonlight Ride- September 17 – Rod Fleming will lead.
Christmas Light’s Ride – Dec 18 – John Del Santo will lead
Big Bear – Gary will lead next year – planning a weekend – dates TBA
Russ is also planning a ride – TBA

SAFETY FIRST:.
John Del Santo read a safety article indicating that deer whistles are useless.
The article will be given to Carole to add to the club library.
Joan told the membership about how to ICE your cell phone. (In Case of
Emergency.)It was agreed that this is an excellent idea; many already had set it
up.
Bill Edwards spoke of Amy Hilliards presentation at the BMW picnic where she
reminded riders of the need to stay well-hydrated in this weather.
Leon shared info he had come across about dripping and condensation from air
conditioners in cars when stopped at intersections for stop signs and traffic
signals. The oil and water don’t mix, creating slicks in these places. Putting
your foot down may not hold! Be alert.
John Del Santo emphasized 2-3 seconds stopping distance as gold. Aaron mentioned
that this slows the person behind you, creating life-saving distance.

Rod motioned that the meeting be adjourned; Russ seconded. The meeting adjourned
at 10:45.
