ATTENDING: JohnQ Lawrence, Carole Helstrom, Bill Edwards, Sean & Tina Brooks, Jon & Carol McDonald-Gibson, John Del Santo, Russ Greene, Tom Warren
JohnQ called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.
MINUTES:Russ moved that the minutes be accepted as posted to the web site; John Del Santo seconded. Minutes were approved.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Tom reports current balance is $732.00
OLD BUSINESS: Three day cancer walk was discussed. San Diego walk raised more than any other walk in the nation. Our congratulations once again to Rose and Seanna for their hard work and participation.
Carole has purchased a book from the Lance Armstrong foundation as a gift to Betsy Durham. It was passed around for members to sign,
Billy not present to report on road project.
Rose not present to report on Xmas committee work,.
Carole discussed looking into coating from silver to gold for ride leader pins. Cost to buy so few would be $5.00 per pin... Decisions should be made next month.
Bill Elliott and John Del Santo presented we get involved with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Research ride. John Del Santo ill bring info to next meeting.
JohnQ reported on the success of the Sea to Summit Ride.
NEW BUSINESS: Sharie has resigned her position as membership coordinator. The Board has decided NOT to continue that position and transfer those responsibilities to “Membership Representative” position now held by Melinda Mitchell. Carole will turn over all materials and outline duties involved.
JohnQ reminded us that the SoCal Cycle is offering a FREE 10x10 marketing space. Call Sean at 858-373-2883 for reservations ASAP! The event will be held 11/12/05 at SoCal Cycle Works.
Steve is chairing Xmas in July…any suggestions? Get them to him directly.
NEW RIDES: Please check the web site for up-coming rides.
11/12 Tom Warren’s Mt. Palomar ride will start later in the day to avoid sports bikes.
11/27 San Diego Toy Run Ride. John Del Santo suggested we go to start point as a riding club, drop off toys, and run a ride of our own, which he will lead.
11/29 Tom Warren’s Rock Store Ride. Tom reports if turnout is too small he will cancel the long ride and lead a shorter one.
12/18 John Del Santo’s Xmas Light’s ride – check site for details.
Russ again brought up a night ride. John Del Santo will send him one that visits the city’s night lights.
SAFETY FIRST: John Del Santo has new decibel meter. The offer for checking is there for whoever desires it.,
John Del Santo told of a bill in work,,,Deucheney…freedom of choice on helmets if over 18 and have a M1 license for two years, or if over 18 and have two years of driving. Also discussed was common problem of deteriorating night vision. Russ wants to propose another night right, but many of us are getting older and don’t feel comfortable at night. Glasses were a major focus for assistance
THIS AND THAT: JohnQ showed a new rain suit, and how he converted a bedsheet plastic packing bag as a perfect carrier for it. Gadget man does it again!
JohnQ also showed a stereo, import, USB piece for sale at Fry’s for $69.00
Meeting was adjourned at 10:20AM. So moved by Carole, seconded by Russ.
