OLD BUSINESS:.  The campsite space has been reserved. Rose still needs to fill in on Saturday’s rib dinner. Scott Holocek is bringing the ribs, but potluck sides are needed. Let Rose know if and what you’re bringing,.  John Del Santo is making spaghetti and fixings for Friday night’s dinner.  Rod & Rose are making breakfast. Saturday lunch is up for grabs for those remaining in camp Saturday. Rebecca will lead a ride that day.  Rose needs  headcount..please RSVP.  Extra camping gear is available for those in need. Rob Pointdexter is the one to contact if you need anything. Dennis has firewood, Greg takes his truck if anyone needs stuff carted up.

NEW RIDES: Please check the web site for up-coming ride details.
1.      Rebecca will lead Saturday’s ride at the campout.
2.       Paula will lead the ride after today’s meeting.

SAFETY FIRST:JohnQ reviewed information on the church parking lot practice course. We have new riders who know little about it. All club members are encouraged to complete the course and get their silver wings pin. Carole H. explained silver and gold wings requirements. Doc is writing up the criteria for achieving the gold wings ride leader pin. He will report at next month’s meeting.

Rod spoke about CONSTANTLY looking in your mirrors, especially if you are leading a group..to be sure they are there. We leave 2-2 ½ seconds between bikes..so you should be able to see who is in front, and behind you.  He told of a game his dad used to play with them in the car. “What color is the car behind you? Color on left? Right? Ahead? Behind on right? Ahead on left?”  Keeps you focusing ALL around you! Try it!

JohnQ gave report on Lyons Valley ride last week, discussing options available other than the other group of bikers passing our group. Wait til we have gone on ahead, wait for a passing lane…all better than dangerous passing that they chose to do.

Paula is our new Safety Coordinator. She is honored by the position and asks that members tell her what you would like her to talk about. She will research the topic, and speak about it at the following meeting. If no one suggests a topic she will prepare one on her own.  Paula offers help on riding skills to any/all members who request it.

THIS AND THAT Once again emails to the list were discussed.  Be sensitive to the fact that they are easily misinterpreted due to lack of pausing, tone, and no immediate interaction back and forth.

GADGET MAN: John Q shared a camera  mount that he had made..cheaply! He also shared a handlebar gizmo for a clock, thermometer that was originally made for bicycles but he has adapted for motorcycles. Both gadgets are on his website…check them out at gadgetsfixitpage.com

JohnDel Santo shared stuff too:a card to carry in your saddlebag with accident info on it, an extension for your tire to get air hose to your bike, secure patches to your clothing with E6000 glue, and an airpump for $29-35 that fills tires in 8 minutes plus electric battery, cigarette lighter battery, battery tender switch, and air pressure gauge. Go to cyclegear.com and check out Slime airpump.

Russ told us that Country Choice was relocating. He will post directions to the list so that members will know how to get there for our next meeting on September 23rd.

Meeting was adjourned at 10:55AM.  So moved by Carole, seconded by Rebecca.

Respectfully Submitted,
Carole Helstrom
