Greg called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. He introduced Mike Spear from the Renegade Outlet Store for an early presentation about their new store. We heard about their offerings, won some raffle prizes, and were invited to join the 3/11 Bowling Ride and Event for Kids.
MINUTES: John Del Santo moved that the minutes be accepted as posted to the web site; John Q seconded. Minutes were approved.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Tom reports current balance is $516.00.
GUEST INTRODUCTIONS: Guests introduced themselves around the room. Several membership applications had been given to Carole. Carole outlined a reminder of the application process. Prospective members must: attend a meeting, obtain a sponsor, ride with the club several times, and be recommended for membership. Several people who submitted an application for consideration will ride with the club after today’s meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:. Greg reminded us of the club ride in April…a renewal ride to coincide with membership renewal. He encourages all members to come.
Club is open to nominations for the board. Presidency and Vice-Presidency are open. John Del Santo nominated himself for vice-president. Russ seconded the nomination. Elections will take place at the April meeting.
The club campout will be May 5-6-7 in same site at Potrero Park. The site cost $103.00. John Del Santo will prepare Saturday breakfast. There will be a ride on Saturday.
NEW BUSINESS: Rebecca Holocek and Carole Helstrom have earned ride leader pins.
Rod led a discussion to review group riding skills. He met with a small group and they gathered, and Rod distributed relevant articles for the areas of focus: distance between bikes, avoidance of large gaps, and speed to keep up with the group. Breaking a large group into several groups was discussed, as well as being sure to read the ride leader’s descriptions of what the ride would entail…so as to make choices as to which ride is most appropriate for each of us. Riders are responsible for keeping up with the ride leader…who plans the ride with stops and times connected to the day. We do not exceed speed limits, nor do we exceed what road conditions call for. Breaking off a group who wish to go slower (as we have done in the past) was also mentioned.
John Del Santo shared the club library materials that he had brought. He pointed out the return or replace procedure he has set up. Linda Wheeler’s contribution to the library were shared as well. John encourages any donations from others.

2. 3/18 Borrego Springs lunch ride – Gary Steinweg leads.
