San Diego Wanderers General Meeting

January 28, 2006

Greg called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

MINUTES: Doc moved that the minutes be accepted as posted to the web site; Rose seconded. Minutes were approved.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Tom reports current balance is $704.59. 

OLD BUSINESS:. None to discuss. 

NEW BUSINESS: Doc presented ride leader pins to Russ Greene and Melinda Mitchell. Doc was presented with a ride leader certificate and pin also. 

April is the month for election of new officers. Nominations will be taken at next month’s meeting. The Presidency is open. Be sure to talk to your prospective candidate before nominating. 

John Del Santo spoke of the upcoming “Traveling wall” visiting San Diego. Volunteers are needed in Balboa Park. Pantana will provide a waiver to sign if you intend to ride. They want as many bikes to escort this Vietnam Memorial as possible. Talk to John if you are interested in participating. 

John Del Santo also spoke of the Patriot Guard Riders who are needed as escorts at funerals of  military personnel.  There is an upcoming funeral if you wish to attend as an escort. Talk to John about this funeral. Doc is  member of this group. See Doc for more information on the group and its activities. 

Paula told us she is retiring from the Navy, and is having a retirement party on 3/31 at the VFW Hall in El Cajon. Time is 4:00-7:00PM.  All club members are invited. 

Seanna and Rose will do the three-day cancer walk again in 2007. Greg is selling "stuff" on eBay to raise money for their participation in the walk.
Call Greg if you have  items he might sell.

NEW RIDES: Please check the web site for up-coming rides.

1.      John Del Santo is planning a ride for new riders on 3/12. Not a club sponsored ride. Contact him if you are interested.

2.      Campout dates need to be set for May. Next month’s meeting will establish these dates. John Del Santo volunteered to do breakfast on Saturday at the campout.

3.      Tom Warren proposes his “Go to hell ride” on April 1, 2006. Details to be posted.

4.      Kent is running his ride on 2/4^th. It will be a breakfast ride to VFW in Escondido. Check website for details.

5.      Greg mentioned a charity ride on June 10^th…$200 a person to ride.

6.      Check website for other/all ride details.

SAFETY FIRST: Kent gave his safety report.  Starting with kudos for attention to safety, ride leader course, and continued input from members during his absence, Kent then focused on the Smith System of Defensive Driving, Proper spacing, Risk Assessment, and general tips.   

 Meeting was adjourned at 11:10AM.  So moved by Carole, seconded by Russ.
