MINUTES:Russ moved that the minutes be accepted as posted to the web site; John Del Santo seconded. Minutes were approved.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Tom reports current balance is $293.95.Melinda has taken new membership money today, so that will be added. Rod reports we need a new bank as the current one is charging for checks written. Katie Sullivan works for a bank and will look into a free account. JohnQ raised the question of whether an account is really needed. Maybe a safe deposit box would serve just as well, OLD BUSINESS:. None to discuss.
NEW BUSINESS: April is the month for election of new officers. Nominations will be read at next month’s meeting. Be sure to talk to your prospective candidate before nominating. Nominations should be sent to Carole Helstrom, secretary. Carole read what she has already received: Nominated for:President – Russ Greene, Vice President- Melinda Mitchell, Secretary-Carole Helstrom, Treasurer-Dana Miller, Membership Liason-Katie Sullivan.
NEW RIDES: Please check the web site for up-coming rides.
1. John Q. asked for interest in the sunrise ride. Details will be posted.
2. John Del Santo mentioned the S.D. Harley Chili Cook-Off ride on Feb. 4th.This is not a club ride, John just provided info on it.
3. Jon & Carol McDonald are riding to the Desert and Joshua Tree February 15-17. Anyone interested in joining they should contact them directly. Not a club ride.
4. John Del Santo proposed a ride on May 13th to end at Palomar Mountain to have coffee with Kent. Greg is looking into rescheduling our campout on that weekend.
5. Greg told of Rip’s Bad Ride – to benefit research on Diabetes. More info to follow. Not a club ride.
6. .Carole Helstrom will lead a Memorial Ride for Kent Saxton on June 24th.
7. Rebecca Holocek will lead a ride on November 11th…it’s her birthday!
SAFETY FIRST:
Paula could not be at the meeting today. Dennis warned of people driving with hoods to keep their heads warm. These head covers prevent them from seeing motorcycles. Watch out for this. John Del Santo told of new law requiring drivers to move over one lane if there are emergency vehicles with flashing lights on the shoulder of the road.
THIS AND THAT: John Q read and spoke to us about email etiquette. No flaming, keep personal stuff between individuals not on the list, be sure to differentiate between personal and public messages, and keep it short and sweet.
Rod told all that Linda Calderone has two spots at Qualcomm tomorrow, He invited all to come and buy,…she is selling out the estate stuff and leather stuff from the business.
GADGETS:
,JohnQ showed a homemade all in one "hanger" to keep all motorcycle gear in one spot when stored. As he passed it around he got comments about marketing it, and even a suggestion for improvement with slight modification. The plan for making this gadget is posted on his gadget website.
Meeting was adjourned at 10:55AM. So moved by Carole, seconded by Rod.
