OLD BUSINESS:. Greg reported that group campsite is not available for desired dates at Potrero. Moving the date was discussed, as was finding another site. Decision will wait until this site has been explored.
NEW BUSINESS: Rod reported that the new owner of Country Choice Restaurant has asked us to return there for our meetings. A vote was taken…all agreed to remain at our new location.
Next month is the month for election of new officers. Nominations were read. There is still time to nominate someone. Be sure to talk to your prospective candidate before nominating. Nominations should be sent to Carole Helstrom, secretary. Katie cannot help with the new bank account with the changes that have occurred at her workplace, Dana will explore banks and credit unions that are convenient for her.
John Del Santo reports that a new law allows for ANY helmets with DOT approval…even beanies.
NEW RIDES: Please check the web site for up-coming rides.
1. Greg leads a ride to Tecate on March 31 to have lunch and visit with Leon and Cristina. Be sure to get insurance for crossing into Mexico. Take ID. Check your current insurance company…some cover you 50 miles into Mexico.
2. Bill E. will host a birthday ride as an alternative to Tombstone. Check website for details. Happy Birthday Bill!
3. John Del Santo proposed a ride on May 13th to end at Palomar Mountain to have coffee with Kent.

6. July 29th – Boot Hill Memorial Ride takes place
7. Rebecca Holocek will lead a ride on November 11th…it’s her birthday!
8. Greg mentioned that the Southern Cruisers SC4K for charity will not take place this year. We had planned to join them. It was agreed that we take a year off too.
SAFETY FIRST: Rod spoke about the upcoming long trip to Tombstone. He reminded all to: 1. Check and prep your bike thoroughly the night before..check lights, tires, oil, etc. 2. Tune yourself up as well…well-rested, well fed, vitamins, fluids, meds refilled..being relaxed and healthy BEFORE the trip helps you stay healthy ON the trip! 3. Have insurance and medical emergency cards. 4. Assure your tags and papers are current.
Greg cautioned that warmer roads are causing trucks with retreads to blow the rubber off their tires. They are all over the roads! He also shared with us info that sunscreens EXPIRE, and once they do they are useless! 30-40 protection is best..higher numbers cost more but does not afford more protection.
Bill E. reminded us that tank bags should be securely fastened!
THIS AND THAT: There has not been a change in the
helmet law (yet), but due to a recent lawsuit, you could pretty much wear ANY
kind of a helmet you wanted to (bicycle, horse-riding, baseball) and if it had
a DOT sticker on it, it would be a pretty sure bet that a San Diego Officer
would not pull you over.
