Russ called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

MINUTES: Ken Storm moved that the minutes be accepted as posted to the web site; David Peterson seconded. Minutes were approved.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Russ announced that Dana has resigned as treasurer, and that he had just received the information.  He  reported that we started with $803.00. Monies have been returned... $45 from Greg from campout, $70 returned to Paula for returned club patches, $10 in postage, 60 cents interest. Current balance is $768.60. Russ announced that Rob Poindexter accepts the assignment of club treasurer, and he turned the books over to Rob.  There was an email Board vote that verified Rob’s appointment.  Russ will write a check, deposit it, and then transfer the funds to Rob to open the account. We appreciate Rob's work for the club.

OLD BUSINESS .Silver wings have been earned and were awarded to David Peterson for successfully completing the Skiils Course established at the First Baptist Church.  Ken Storm mentioned, again, that he volunteers the paint and will help with others who volunteer to repaint the course.  This will have to wait as parking lot is being redone, and painting approval will be needed to proceed.

3,000 miles gold pins went to Katie Sullivan, and Debbie Giamanco. Congratulations to all who received awards today!

Carole had done a summary of ride poll survey and results were given to Russ. Russ shared that members felt we were pretty right on target with desires selected. A discussion ensued focusing on possible “labeling of ride levels.” Carole pointed out that most Ride Captains, and leaders outline their expectations for the ride when they post it. Todd stated that this was good, he never felt pushed.  When he knew ahead of time it would be a ride at a clearly advanced level he could choose not to go.  Russ talked of speed limit rides, and not exceeding the speed limit.  Melinda spoke of freeways, and pointed out that most leaders point to alternative back roads in the pre-ride briefing, so any who so choose can go another way if freeway is not their choice.  Doc pointed out that if we have 8-10 bikes we usually split the group anyway, because it’s safer.  Gary Steinweg pointed out that we don’t exceed speed limits on club rides due to liability if someone should get hurt on the ride.

The survey very clearly stated NO dirt roads.  Destinations suggested were: Solvang, Sedona, Santa Barbara, Grand Canyon, Bodie…as overnighters, or multi-day rides. Idyllwild was also posted…Carole offers to lead to Idyllwild.

Guests: Russ asked guests to introduce themselves.

NEW BUSINESS.  Resignations from the Wanderers: Paula, Dana, Dennis, Karl.

There was a request for a CPR course again. John and Fran arranged for a CPR course for desiring club members two years ago. CPR and First Aid have now been incorporated into a one-day course. It also includes training in defibrilation.  Doc’s son-in-law is certified and would be happy to teach the class for us. It would be 1 day – 4 hours, held at the Church. Carole will get a date from Doc on this.

David Peterson raised a discussion on a charitable support activity for the club. He spoke of Pop Warner football’s need for equipment for the kids. Doc pointed out that if we do a poker run we need a gaming license. Nancy pointed out to do a posted run requires insurance. Russ mentioned that maybe a club donation would be a good way to use excess monies.  David will chair this project.

Carole & Melinda told of the plans for the club picnic.  Site will be in the Mission Bay area.

Ken Storm was appointed at the Club Safety Officer.

NEW RIDES: Please check the web site for up-coming rides. There are members stepping up to lead new rides.

SAFETY FIRST: We look forward to Ken’s sharing at our next meeting.

THIS AND THAT:

Carole shared two “Red Ribbon Awards” with club members.  She emphasized that this is NOT to be incorporated into club’s procedures, but she hoped that it would help end the degradation and turn to healing appreciation. The ribbons are called “I Make a Difference,” and the first was for John Del Santo for the extraordinary time and effort he puts into our newsletter. Since John was not at the meeting, Carole will deliver it to him.  The second was presented to Nancy Nemecek, who is recognized for her continuing generosity and concern for others.  Nancy has offered an electric wheelchair to a friend currently having heart trauma.

Carole brought up the concept of a member info list TO BE DISTRIBUTED ONLY TO THE MEMBERS WHO CHOOSE TO BE ON IT. She will post to the list, and see if it is desired.

Ken Storm brought an email etiquette article to be distributed to those who haven’t seen it before.  Katie says it is posted on the website…and emphasized keeping all email happy, healthy, and motorcycle related please.

Nancy asked for help in finding a trike to buy, and that she has one to sell. Any help appreciated.

Meeting was adjourned at 10:50AM.  So moved by Carole, Ken Storm seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully Submitted,

Carole Helstrom
