Guests: Jason Eidsmoe, Pat Ireland

Russ called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

MINUTES:  John Del Santo made a motion that the minutes be accepted as posted to the website.  Katie Greene seconded.  The minutes were unanimously approved.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Rob reported that the ending October balance was $978.60.  Expenditures for the picnic were $126.00.  He has taken in $5.00 from new members to make a total of $857.60.  Carole H moved the treasurer’s report be accepted as read, and Nancy seconded.  The report was unanimously accepted.  Russ reported that Rob has opened the club an account under the Wanderers’ name.  It has two signature cards:  one with Rob and the other with Katie as the backup.  This was difficult to do, and we appreciated Rob’s efforts.  Russ pointed out that we are coming to year’s end, and we need to figure out how to spend some of the Club money.

Guests introduced themselves and were welcomed to the meeting.

OLD BUSINESS:

Club Holiday Party.  Rob reported on the party plans.  Jon and Carol have offered their home for the event.  Rob was thinking of a New Year’s Party to be held on December 29th or 30th.  Having the party catered was suggested and the following caterers will be explored:  El Indio, Scootz, Panda Express, and Nancy’s nephew Dennis.  He suggested a ride for that day, ending at Jon and Carol’s for the dinner party. Rob was given the go ahead to continue the planning.  He will be looking for an attendance count once the caterer has been chosen.

Doc O’Conner’s Fire Cleanup.  Russ shared the work done by twelve Wanderers as they helped to shift and shift thorough the rubble of Doc O’Conner’s house remains in Ramona.  The club members spent the entire day there, and Mike Randazzo’s company is clearing everything.  Although we got very dirty, we found some well-loved treasures of Doc’s, were fed well, worked hard, and felt terrific to be able to help him.  Doc expressed his gratitude, and was overwhelmed by the care and concern of all.  John McDonald-Gibson won the “dirtiest worker” medal for the day!

NEW BUSINESS:

December Meeting.  Russ brought up a discussion of the December meeting.  Should we skip it?  Have it earlier in the month?  Katie moved that the club have no meeting in December, and consider the Club Party as that month’s gathering of members.  John Del Santo seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

New Members.  Katie introduced new members Doc O’Conner and Jason Eidesmoe.  Welcome!

Wanderer’s Merchandise.  After showing all the Wanderer’s “stuff” available, Katie took money for the sale of large patches, small patches, and stickers.  The money was given to Rob to deposit into the club account.

Wanderers Charter Amendment.  The voting on the Charter Amendment has been cast and counted.  The amendment change was passed with a vote of 22 yeas, 5 nays, and 1 abstention.  Russ pointed out that this change makes it better for whoever is on the board.  It will eliminate all possibility of anguish and the opportunity for unwarranted accusations.  The change will be posted.  It is time to move on.
SAFETY FIRST:  Ken told of an accident scene he was at where the motorcycle driver had NO information available for the medics on the scene.  He handed out a form, suggesting that all members fill it out and leave it where it can be seen or found.  Suggestions for placement were many.  Todd pointed out that the medics look on the person, not the bike, and it’s better to carry this info on you!

Suggestions and info:

John Del Santo talked about left turn lanes and light triggers.  ABATE has worked hard to make sure that sensors MUST work for bikes, too.  If you find that one does not work, contact 619-688-6699 for San Diego or 858-694-2212 for San Diego County.  It is NOT legal to turn after waiting 2 or 3 lights if the signal does not change, but a defective signal IS an argument in court if you are ticketed.  John also has a letter to take to court, if needed.

RIDES:

THIS AND THAT:

Russ had some goodies to share:

Bill E. offered to lead an after-meeting ride.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:45 a.m. and was moved by Carole, seconded by Nancy.  Let’s ride!

Respectfully submitted,
Carole Helstrom
